In the STEM Lunar Challenge, multiple cities compete to raise the most money for STEM education. The winning city has the opportunity to build a payload concept to accompany the next moon-bound SpaceX rocket with Astrobotic, a Pittsburgh-based space robotics company.

The Brand

The bold logo we designed pays homage to the vintage mission patches from NASA’s 1950s and ’60s heyday. The four colors that typically represent STEM are used as the challenge’s brand colors.

Roket coined the challenge’s motto: “Moon Bound,” which speaks to the aspirational, adventurous aspect of space travel and the empowerment of STEM education.

The STEM Lunar Challenge website is part crowdfunding, part eCommerce, part marketing, and entirely awesome.


To accomplish our project goals and meet our client’s diverse needs, we fused several easy-to-use technologies: Bootstrap, Shopify, MailChimp, and Amplifier.

Shopify is our go-to platform for eCommerce. We love it because it offers the best front-end editing experience for our clients, as well as comprehensive developer support to ensure our team can deliver the best possible product.

As with all our websites, the STEM challenge site is responsive. Care was taken to ensure a consistent, seamless viewing experience across all devices.
